Preparing an account before the launcher
The most important step is before downloading: Create an account and enter referral code cleanly. If you forget the code, according to RSI, there is only a limited 24-hour window after creating an account for subsequent entries.
Do not rely on it, but copy the code and check it during registration. After that you can test Free Fly or, if you really want to play, check a Starter Pack.
Download and install Launcher
You can download the RSI Launcher from the official RSI page. This website does not provide your own download and does not use any official assets. Always check the official source in case of doubt.
You should choose an SSD during installation. Long charging times and loaders are possible with Star Citizen anyway; an HDD makes it unnecessary to get started.

Login and initial settings
After logging in, you first check whether the launcher starts clean and the game is completely updated. In the game itself, a quick look at graphics, audio, input devices and keyboard layout is worthwhile.
