This check goes a step further: it helps you judge whether your overall system merely meets the listed specifications or whether several bottlenecks could make the experience difficult. No particular frame rate can be guaranteed.

What to check

Start with storage: Star Citizen should be installed on an SSD. Then check your RAM, graphics card, processor, free space, Windows setup and internet connection. No single item guarantees a good experience.

If your PC has several weak points, do not buy on speculation. Wait for a Free Fly or look for reports from players with very similar hardware.

  • An SSD is available with enough free space.
  • There is enough RAM without running close to the limit.
  • The CPU and GPU are reasonably modern and capable of running current games.
  • Use a stable internet connection and close unnecessary background programs.

No guaranteed frame rate

Star Citizen can perform differently from one patch to the next. Even powerful PCs experience stuttering or server problems, so any fixed FPS figure would be misleading.

A more useful question is practical: can you take off, land, try simple missions and travel through cities without performance preventing you from making an informed decision?
