Basics on access to games
For regular entry you usually need a package with game access. Often this is a Starter Pack. Details, content and prices can change, so this page does not call any specific price guarantees.
Always check in the official store what is actually included. Especially important is the difference between Game Package and Standalone Ship.
Free Fly as free test possibility
If a Free Fly event is active, you can test Star Citizen before buying something. It is very valuable for beginners because you experience performance, control and Alpha state yourself.
A test protects against mispurchasing. If you are not in the game or if your PC is fighting, you can wait.

Why not spend a lot of money directly
Star Citizen has many ships and upgrade options. You don't need them to get started. Experience, orientation and patience bring you more than one big ship at the beginning.
If you really play longer later, you can still decide better. In the beginning, restraint is usually more reasonable.
Which issues are optional?
Additional ships, upgrades, skins and other store content are not required for entry. The RSI subscription is also a voluntary support program and not a necessary monthly play fee.
