What is a referral code?
A referral code is a personal recommendation code of an existing Star Citizen player. As a new player, you enter it directly when you create your RSI account and receive start bonuses that make it easier for you to get started. The regular bonus consists of 50,000 UEC, the starting balance for your account. For some limited-term events, additional rewards can be added.
Therefore, use the code if you want to create your account for a later purchase of a Starter Pack or if you want to try Star Citizen for free during a Free Fly.
When does the code have to be entered?
Enter the referral code directly when creating your RSI account. It should already be connected to your account before trying Star Citizen during a Free Fly or buying a Starter Pack. So you don't have to worry about it later and can be sure that the code is stored from the beginning.

- Then test Free Fly or buy Starter Pack.
What happens if you forget the code?
If you have forgotten the code when creating your account, immediately check the current notes in your RSI account and in the official Referral Program FAQ. Do not rely on the code to be added later.
The safest way is to check the referral code before sending the registration. So it is connected to your RSI account from the beginning.
When does a player count as a referral?
For you as a new player, it is especially important that the referral code has already been connected to your RSI account when creating your account. To complete the recommendation according to the general RSI rules, you need a Star Citizen Game Package and at least 40 US dollars in eligible expenses in the RSI Pledge Store.
This does not mean that you must first buy a Starter Pack and then spend another 40 US dollars. The eligible price of your Starter Pack is already part of this minimum limit. You do not have to spend this amount in addition to the package price.
Purchases with Store Credit and only gifted Pledges do not count as eligible own expenditures according to the general RSI terms. Timely limited referral actions may have additional conditions; the current official action page is always relevant.
