Executive summary
- The first avoidable error: referral code does not copy before registration.
- Don't accidentally buy a Standalone Ship instead of a game access package.
- Do not underestimate Alpha, bugs, Wipes, performance and learning curve.
Forgotten referral code
The referral code brings new players 50,000 UEC start bonus if they are correctly deposited with the account. If you are looking for it after registration, life is unnecessarily difficult.
Copy the code before starting the registration and check the field before sending it. So you take the bonus with you if you create an account anyway.
Buying the wrong package
A common error is the purchase of a Standalone Ship, although a Game Package or Starter Pack with game access is required. Check content carefully and read product texts quietly.
If you are unsure, don't buy immediately. Read the Starter Pack Guide and the difference between Game Package and Standalone Ship.
- Not directly expensive to buy.
- Check for access to the game.
- Use Free Fly when available.
- No HDD installation.
- Alpha condition take seriously.
Underestimate technology and Alpha
Star Citizen can be frustrating on weaker or unfavorably configured hardware. Especially HDD, low RAM and false expectations are problematic.
Add to this the Alpha condition: bugs, crashes, server problems and Wipes can happen. That should be clear before buying.
Too heavy first missions
Many beginners start with risky missions and then lose time, equipment or motivation. Simpler activities are not a step backwards, but good training.
Start with orientation, launch, landing and quiet missions. After that you can still try bunkers, bounty, mining or salvage.
